Cast iron gates for Royal Victoria Park in Bath

We were commissioned to make replicas of several pairs of cast iron gates at various entrances to the city’s Royal Victoria Park, a popular area for residents and for the tens of thousands of visitors to Bath.

The Architect studied many old photos of the original gates so the replicas could be made as close to those erected back in 1830. It was originally thought the gates were made in wrought iron and all the planning was done based on this, but once the gates where removed to our workshop and the restoration process started we discovered they were in fact made in cast iron. In consultation with the architect and the conservation officers it was decided that the gates should be restored and the missing gates made as originally intended, months were spent on making patterns and forming new cast iron components.

Our company has received gratitude and congratulations on the skill of the craftsmen involved from the chair of Bath Heritage Watchdog.
