Ripley Castle Palm house roof restoration.

The Palm house at Ripley Castle is Grade II listed and is on the Heritage at Risk register. The ironwork to the roof was rusting along with the two cast iron gutters.

We were commissioned to restore the ironwork in the roof structure so it would support the new polycarbonate sheet covering.

The original curved glass panes, had at some point in time been replaced with polycarbonate sheets. Due to the lack of safe access it hadn’t been possible to clean the roof covering and it had become heavily discoloured. The ventilation panels were also restored as part of the project.

The project timeframe was tight due to the parameters set by Historic England.
