Bespoke balustrading – Barton Manor

Our response to the client’s desire for a bespoke design for a balustrade in bronze, we were eventually commissioned to design not only the balustrade but also the structure and woodwork of the staircases and landing in this new, modern country house. The design is based upon natural forms, leaves and tendrils, used in a strong but lightweight fashion. There are two cast metal statuettes representing classical Greek caryatids. The terminations of the handrails are cascaded in the French style, rather than being newels. The metalwork is finished in a lustrous deep brown patina.
