These questions are those typically asked by customers when inquiring about ordering wrought iron and bronze handrail from us. WROUGHT IRON BAR

Q. – I can’t find the section size i need on your list. Will you roll the section i need and how much will it cost?

A. – Yes – within reason we will roll the section you require. It’s not feasible to put all the sizes on this quote system, so we have chosen the most common sizes ordered to give a close idea as to the cost. If for example you want 1″ x 5/16″ please look at the nearest size up, which in this instance is 1″ x 3/8″. This means you know it will not be more expensive should you decide to order. If the quote becomes an order you will have the opportunity to change and discuss the exact size you want with us before committing to an order.

Q. – How long does it take to get the wrought iron if i place an order?

A. – We have a rolling schedule to satisfy current market demand. We light the furnace and roll every third full week in the month. If demand increases we will increase the schedule accordingly, but at the moment if you place an order it will be rolled in the 3rd week of every month and typically dispatched the following week. Some special handrail sections will need longer to schedule. We monitor all these quotes so if we notice a quote that does not fit the normal scheduling we will contact you to discuss.

Q.- WHAT LENGTHS DO YOU ROLL AND WHAT IS THE LONGEST LENGTH I CAN ORDER?

A.- To minimise waste we roll in 4 foot, 6 foot and 8 foot lengths. Occasionally we will roll 10 ft if required and agreed in advance

Q.- WHAT IS THE SHORTEST LENGTH I CAN ORDER?

A.- 4ft is the shortest economical length we sell.

Q.- WHY IS THE SHIPPING QUOTE SO EXPENSIVE?

A. This is an automated system and we have to base it on standard sizes and weight bands as most of our orders are shipped on pallets. If you are placing a small order and only need short lengths there might be alternative ways to ship that are more cost effective. These options can be looked at once we have more information from you. Many of our customers arrange their own collection once they know the size and weight of their order.

Q.- CAN I COLLECT THE IRON OR ARRANGE MY OWN SHIPPING.

A.- Yes, and a lot of our customers do this and find it more cost effective.

Q.- DO YOU SHIP OVERSEAS

A.- Yes, sometimes customers arrange their own collection and find this more cost effective than our couriers. If your quote looks likely to become an order we would be happy to look at shipping options.

WROUGHT IRON PLATE

Q. DO YOU SELL CHARCOAL IRON PLATE?

A. Yes, but it is currently unavailable.

Q.- HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED CHARCOAL PLATE OR PUDDLED IRON PLATE?

A.- Rule of thumb is, if you are using the plate as a flat sheet as for example a backing plate or lock box, then puddled iron is fine. If you are bending or working the sheet for leaf work, then charcoal sheet is what you will probably need.

Q.- WHAT IS THE LARGEST SHEET YOU CAN ROLL?

A. Our rolling mill will only roll sheet that is 16″ wide and the length depends on the input bilett and thickness, but typically 3 ft would be the longest length. These sizes are not exact and, if you need something slightly bigger, then send us an email with your requirement and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.

Q.- i NEED A BIGGER SHEET THAN YOU CAN ROLL. WHAT CAN YOU OFFER?

A.- We do have larger sheets that are re-claimed salvage which might be suitable. They are typically between 5/16″ and 1/2″ thick. Please email us if you want to know what we currently have to offer.

MANGANESE BRONZE HANDRAILS

Q. Can i order shorter lengths than 2.5 metre?

A. No. We only sell this material in either 2.5 metre or 5 metre lengths. We can cut it shorter if you wish for transport but you will still need to pay for the full 2.5 metre length. Only the MBH6 is supplied in 4m and 2m lengths

Q.- DO YOU BEND THE BRONZE HANDRAIL IF I NEED IT FORMING?

A.- Yes, but you will have to email us your requirement separately to get a price for forming the handrail. This quote system is for material only.

Q.- WHAT FINISH DOES THE HANDRAIL COME IN?

A.- We send out the manganese bronze handrail in the natural manufactured finish, it is not polished or cleaned in any way as this will get damaged when you are forming the handrail.
